We are a motivated group of learners who set high goals, take pride in our achievements and demonstrate resilience in all we do. In our thoughtfully designed classroom, we foster a love for learning that inspires growth, support, and challenge for everyone. Our strong team spirit shines through in everything we do as we encourage curiosity, embrace learning risks and support each other in our educational journey. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in Class 4 feels included and leaves Kellington Primary School with a sense of community, an inclusive mindset and the ambition to make thoughtful choices in life.

Curriculum

In Class 4 our English lessons are designed to help children build strong communication skills, think critically, and develop a love for language. We read a variety of interesting texts that expand their understanding, vocabulary, and ability to think deeply about what they read. Writing activities encourage them to be creative while learning to organise their thoughts and write clearly in different styles, such as stories, reports, and persuasive pieces. Class discussions and group work help children express their ideas confidently and listen to others.

In Maths we focus on deepening students’ understanding of maths through engaging lessons that cover key topics like fractions, geometry and data. With hands-on activities and real-life examples, we build problem-solving skills and encourage logical thinking. Our goal is to help each child develop confidence, resilience and a strong foundation in maths, preparing them for future learning.

In Science, we inspire and nurture curious minds. Children are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, and explore the world through hands-on experiments. They learn to report their findings, explain concepts and discuss their ideas confidently. Our approach fosters curiosity, critical thinking and a love for discovery.

For more information about our curriculum each half term, please look at our curriculum maps on either in the link, on the newsletter or on the Google Classroom.

Homework

Homework can support what children learn in class. It helps them practise key skills, build confidence, and develop good study habits. Ask your child about their day and what they found interesting can help them build retrieval skills. It’s a great way to support growth and success!

Homework is set every Friday on Google Classroom and includes:

 Ed Shed spelling games
TT Rockstars
Reading (at least 3 times per week)
The children get to visit the school’s Library fortnightly to select books for enjoyment alongside school reading books. The children have the opportunity to change these books sooner if they need to. Each child’s home reads are checked weekly and will be entered into our Class ‘reading raffle’. Children will also have the opportunity to work towards earning their Fab 50 and Hero 100 reading rewards.

PE Days
Our PE days are Thursdays and Fridays.
