At Kellington Primary School we believe that every child should have the opportunity to:

  • develop a sense of enjoyment in sport and a healthy lifestyle
  • develop positive attitudes towards health, fitness and hygiene
  • experience practical challenges and problem solving
  • develop team work and cooperation as well as refining individual skills.

The long term PE curriculum plan for KS1 and KS2 is based on the Chris Quigley Essentials curriculum and is in line with the National Curriculum 2014. During their time in the school pupils experience gymnastics, games, dance, swimming, outdoor education and athletics - these are often enhanced by outside coaches.  In Early Years PE is an integral part of the Physical Development strand of the EYFS framework. Pupils also have the chance to experience physical activity and sports through various inter and intra school competitions and clubs.
