Design Technology

We aim to promote a design and technology education that ignites children’s interest in their world, the way things work and their vision of the future. Their experiences in design and technology should lead them to ask how, what and why questions which in turn encourage them to research, design, make, evaluate and improve, whilst refining their skills, solving problems and showing increased resilience.

Kellington follows the New NC 2014 and EYFS 2014 as a basis for our DT teaching and learning. In EYFS design and technology forms part of the ‘Expressive Arts and Design’ area of learning, made up of the two aspects: Exploring and using media and materials and Being imaginative.

In KS1 and KS2 the Quigley ‘Essentials’ milestone statements inform the curriculum planning overview.
