British Values

Teaching and learning of the British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs is an integral part of our school ethos and curriculum in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Through assemblies, active participation in class, school and eco councils, school visits and visitors, involvement in shaping our school rules and being given a voice to influence school activities and our curriculum, children learn about the importance that British Values play in their everyday lives and the contrast between life in Britain and countries with differing values. In addition explicit teaching forms part of the RE, PHSE&C, History and Geography curricula in Key Stage 1 and 2 and is taught through discrete topics and stories in EYFS. The Learning Journey for each class shows the aspects of British Values which are learning about each half term.
