Spring B 2017/18                      SAPPHIRE CLASS Year 5/6

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you have all had a very relaxing week off!

Things to remember:

  • School times – 8.45am – 3.15pm.
  • Uniform – please make sure ALL items of clothing are named, including coats and hats.
  • PE– Tuesday and Wednesday. Outdoor trainers will be needed on these days. It is extremely important that your child is equipped for these sessions. It is advisable that your child brings their PE kit in on a Monday and leaves it in school until Friday. You will have been contacted if your child is continuing with swimming (Tuesdays) this term.
  • Homework will be given out on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday- please support your child with this where possible (Year 6’s will start getting more homework in the run up to SATs).
  • Weekly spellings will be given out on a Monday and must be learnt ready for a spelling test on the Friday.
  • Daily reading– your child will be given the chance to choose their own reading book in school and it will be their responsibility to change the book when they have finished it. Please support your child in regular reading.
  • SMIRF targets- Your child will have two instant recall target facts (SMIRFs) for maths. Please support your child to practise these at home ready to be tested fortnightly in school. If you have any questions regarding the SMIRF targets, please do not hesitate to ask.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your support.
